ST. VINCENT DE PAUL’S CONFIRMATION “WORKS OF MERCY” INSTRUCTIONS
SCROLL TO BOTTOM OF PAGE FOR WORKS OF MERCY FORM (DUE END OF MARCH)
Jesus said unto him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
True love for our neighbor cannot be separated from our love for God as it is only from God that all love and virtue flow from and to God that every act of kindness should lead our hearts to. This is why it is important to offer both Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy as part of the Confirmation Service hours.
10 Acts and/or Hours of Works of Mercy are required.
7th or older/Year One - Acts/Hours (Due last week of March
8th -HS/Year Two - Acts/Hours (Due last week of March

Suggestions: Bridges Run, Vacation Bible Camp. You may also volunteer outside of St. Vincent’s. |
Charity begins in the home. It is sometimes easy to take for granted our siblings and overlook the many self-sacrifices our parents make for us on a daily basis. Being of kind service to our family members can help to foster a deeper sense of charity toward those whom we are first called to love.
Suggestions: (must be done without pay or complaint)
1. Cleaning/Cooking/Grocery Shopping for Mom or Dad.
2. Helping brother or sister with their homework or other activity.
3. Doing something special for a grandparent or relative.

SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY (This is always important)
We all need to be encouraged to pray more, not only for ourselves, but for others. Prayer brings God’s helping hand through grace to even the most difficult situations in life. Suggestions: Altar Server or Lector (Contact srkrystyna@stvincentschurch.org), Praying the whole Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet with your family, Eucharistic Adoration (available after Mass in the back chapel every day while the church is open), Stations of the Cross or a Parish Prayer Service, or a weekday Mass (In addition to the Faith Formation schedule).
