The Diocese of Paterson requires all volunteers and/or employees who have regular contact with children, minors or vulnerable adults be approved to work by completing the following steps:

Step 1 … FIRST, you must complete and sign the Consent and Disclosure Form for an Internet Background Check . Upon completion, return it to the parish office.  

• ​You may not volunteer/work until the Background Check is completed and we have documentation that your are clear of a criminal history. 

  
Step 2 … Next, read and sign the “ Code of Pastoral Conduct” acknowledgement.  You are accountable for your behavior and must follow the Code of Conduct.  Return the signed and dated acknowledgement form to the parish office.

Step 3 … Finally, once you have been cleared through a Background Check, you have 90 days to attend a Virtus Class – “Protecting God’s Children”.   To view the schedule of classes and register, go to the website:  www.virtusonline.org.  On the left side of the screen, click on REGISTRATION.  Start the process of registration, by following the prompts.  After you have attended the class, please present your certificate to the parish office.
